Pajama style in clothes is not only one of the most popular fashion trends past few years. Pajamas are soft, cozy, very comfortable and attractive type of home clothes. It gives comfort and relaxation after a busy working day. And it’s not a surprise, that many designers have tried to bring such pleasant associations and feelings into everyday clothes.
Coco Chanel was one of the first fashion designers who created the idea to take pajamas outside the bedroom. She partially borrowed some elements of clothing for sleeping, for example, comfortable short and straight trousers. An elegant, stylish collar from a men’s jacket was added to the pajama jacket. It was impossible to walk on the street in such a kit, but it could be worn for a walk on the beach, for example.
Pajamas type of clothes has several features and characteristic.
- Free, light cut of the model. Clothing does not restrict movement and promotes relaxation and comfort, but it looks very elegant and stylish.
- Different soft, body-pleasing fabrics are used for tailoring: silk, cotton, velvet, flannel, poplin and satin pajamas.
- The color palette. This style is characterized by soft, muted tones, a small, neat print (peas, flowers, stripes) or a small decor in the form of embroidery or appliques on the pocket.
In modern fashion, pajamas trend appeared again, after the show of the Dolce & Gabbana 2009 collection. Inventive designers have introduced many elements of pajama style. The goal of the Italians was to demonstrate female sexuality and intimacy. The high art of fashion designers was expressed in the beautiful presentation of the human body, skillfully covered with nightgowns and pajamas.
However, Dolce & Gabbana took this trend from another fashion icon – Gianni Versace. The revolutionary collection of the famous couturier consisted of weightless and flying outfits made of the finest silk and delicate satin. Models dressed in corsets, skirts with high slits, translucent negligees, trousers and shirts imitating pajamas shone on the podium. Numerous viewers and strict critics took the innovative idea with a bang.
Modern pajama style effectively presents dresses, skirts, blouses and shorts pajamas, pantsuits.
Pajama look is characterized by non-triviality and subtle delicacy. It would be wiser to combine individual “pajama” details with the usual everyday things. For example, a delicate satin dress with lace trim looks good with a strict jacket, a men’s tuxedo and high-heeled model shoes. For loose silk trousers with a thin vertical stripe, you can choose a business blouse or a men’s style shirt.
